Cody Corchado
Saxophone
Cody’s passion for music began in the fourth grade when he started playing violin and when he and his classmates were allowed to join the band in the sixth grade Cody began playing saxophone. His passion only grew from there as he attended summer music camps at Western Illinois University and the University of Northern Iowa, participating in Iowa All-State ensembles, numerous honor jazz bands, the Quad City Youth Symphony, and his school’s pit orchestra, even serving as the drum major of his high school marching band, all while studying saxophone with Chris Merz at Northern Iowa.
After high school, Cody attended the University of Northern Iowa where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts Management with an emphasis in Saxophone Studies. While at UNI, Cody continued studying jazz with Chris Merz and began classical studies under Dr. Ann Bradfield. In an effort to further understand the music business world, Cody pursued a Master’s degree in Business Administration while furthering his studies in music production and composition with award winning composer Adam Kromelow. In addition to teaching saxophone, Cody currently works as a commercial composer and serves as the co-chairman of the Quad City Wind Ensemble.
