Trio GRISMORE
September 23rd at 6:30pm
Sound Conservatory together with Polyrhythms Jazz Hertiage Festival brings your Trio Grismore!
A trio of friends since the early 1990’s, Steve Grismore, Mike Towne and Tim Crumley have partnered up to create Trio Grismore. Their trio is a tribute to the classic guitar and organ trios first established in the 1950’s and 60’s. Drawing inspiration from the music of American jazz guitarist Grant Green, you will hear works either written or inspired by Green. But of course their music sends a nod out to a few of the great organists such as John Patton, Jimmy Smith, and Larry Young. You will also find in Trio Grismore, elements of saxophonists Lou Donaldson and Joe Henderson. A evening inspired by great music performed by great musicians.

KAS - Singer/Songwriter
November 18 at 7pm
Born and raised between Rock Island and Milan, Illinois, KAS is a local to the Quad City area. She has been singing for as long as she can remember and writing for as long as she could babble out stories her mom could write down for her.
Drawing influence from both the punchiness of angst-filled women of the 90's such as Tori Amos and Fiona Apple and today’s Hayley Williams and the vulnerability in folk artists such as Tracy Chapman and Glen Hansard, she aims to create music that is as emotional as it is intricate. Her songs explore topics of grief, femininity, and love— all soothed by a voice that never forgets to express the complexity of what it’s singing about.

In 2016, Hobgood launched The Laurence Hobgood Trio with the album Honor Thy Fathers, a musical tribute not only to Hobgood’s own father, but to all of the musicians who have inspired him. In his Downbeat review, Howard Mandel wrote: Overall the ambiance is warm, dark and reflective, which is not to discount Hobgood's strategically big, broad voicings, streaming glissandi and consistently perfect articulation. Michael J. West of Jazz Times called the album a sublime statement, and Howard Reich had this to say in the Chicago Tribune about a recent performance: Just as Honor Thy Fathers can be considered Hobgood's strongest recording to date, this band may provide his best musical forum yet.
