Kinza Maclin

Kinza Zenabu Maclin was born in Ghana, Africa, adopted by her missionary parents, and brought back to grow up in America. When she was first brought home from the orphanage, her soon-to-be sister noticed how long her fingers were and exclaimed, “she has such great fingers for piano.” Her mom replied, “yeah, right, I can totally see a piano in a mud hut.” The rest is history.

Kinza started piano lessons in 2nd grade, and her mom never had to tell her to practice. She actually had to get her to stop playing all the time! By the time she was in high school, Kinza knew her passion was music and decided to study piano for her undergraduate degree. Kinza graduated from Bradley University in 2015 with her Bachelor of Science in Music Business with a concentration in piano.

During her undergrad, she realized her true passion was accompanying and working with other soloists and instrumentalists. She continued her education at Illinois State University and graduated in 2017 with a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano. Kinza has held numerous positions as a rehearsal accompanist, director, and staff accompanist at various schools, churches, and musical productions. In the last 5 years, she has started teaching private piano lessons and building her private studio. Kinza is also a part of the MTNA and local QCMTA and IAMTA chapters.
